Our story
Founded by a group of visionary investors, Mountain View Cemetery & Cremation Gardens has been an integral part of the community fabric since its inception. Situated on Valley Drive, the cemetery's origins date back to a time when the landscape differed, and its entrance was located behind the maintenance shed, reflecting the evolving nature of its surroundings.
Throughout its history, Mountain View Cemetery & Cremation Gardens has been intertwined with notable figures who have left a lasting impact on the local and national stage. Hon. John W. Flannigan Jr., a distinguished Democrat, served as a US Congressman from 1931 to 1949, leaving a legacy of public service and leadership. Similarly, William Creed Wampler, a Republican Congressman who served from 1953 to 1955 and again from 1967 to 1983, captivated the public imagination with his unique journey, including a period of unconventional expression following electoral defeat.
As Mountain View Cemetery & Cremation Gardens continues to honor its heritage and adapt to changing times, it remains a cherished landmark, embodying the spirit of community and remembrance.
